Bio: Tim Strickland has practiced maritime law and general civil litigation along the Texas Gulf coast for over 20 years. He has litigated all types of marine related claims including, but not limited to, collisions, oil spills, personal injuries, major liquid cargo contamination and complex cargo claims. He also has significant experience in major offshore marine casualty response including acting as a member for the BP emergency response legal team for Thunder Horse and Deep Water Horizon response. However, his experience is not limited solely to maritime claims having also been integrally involved with handling several large and complex insurance coverage matters.

Throughout his professional career, Mr. Strickland has litigated a variety of claims in state and federal courts including non-maritime personal injury defense, premises liability, insurance coverage, energy construction disputes and complex international business transactions. He has had the opportunity to successfully represent a diverse and sophisticated clientele ranging from large insurance companies to small local businesses.

Mr. Strickland has focused his career on the maritime law having sat for and passed his United States Coast Guard O.U.P.V. test to obtain a USCG Captains license. Mr. Strickland also served as in-house counsel and subrogation manager for an international marine insurance service company that provided surveying, adjusting and subrogation expertise to marine insurance underwriters throughout the world including England, France and Spain. Mr. Strickland is a registered arbitrator for the Houston Maritime Arbitration Association. He has also spoken on several marine related topics to groups such as the Houston Mariners Club, Houston Marine Insurance Seminar, The Nautical Institute and Marine Insurance Association of Seattle. Mr. Strickland lectures with the University of Texas Petroleum Extension Service on the topic of Emergency Response in the maritime and offshore energy industry. His passion, besides his family, is the outdoors and you can often find him hunting or fishing along the Texas Gulf Coast.

Born: Bloomington, IN, February 25, 1966. Admitted to State Bar of Texas, 1991. Also admitted to practice before the Fifth Circuit Court of Appeals and U.S. District Courts for the Northern, Eastern, Southern, and Western Districts of Texas. Preparatory education, Texas Tech University (B.S. Wildlife Mgt); legal education, University of Houston Law Center (J.D., 1991); Fraternity: Phi Delta Phi and Sigma Chi.

Member of the State Bar of Texas, American Bar Association, Houston Bar Association, Houston Young Lawyers Association, Maritime Lawyers Association, Houston Maritime Arbitrators Association, ex-skipper (President) of the Houston Mariners Club, Puget Sound Maritime Claims Association, the Galveston County Bar Association, Member of Insurance Committee and National Management Committee for Coastal Conservation Association (CCA), League City Chamber of Commerce, Member of Southeastern Admiralty Lawyers Institute (SEALI), Chairman of the CCA Gulf of Mexico Committee.
